About CCESMN

Our history

Prior to its creation, there were three philanthropists, Joseph Dieuconserve, Jean Emmanuel Ersulien and Jean Emmanuel Pierre, who helped young people and adults in Montreal-North with math and French for academic success. They also organized the distribution of food baskets during the Easter and Christmas holidays. With the arrival of the COVID-19 pandemic, the problems facing families in this city are intensifying, according to the findings of several Montreal research institutions. So, after a major community meeting in May 2020, the CCESMN was launched and saw the light of day on September 13, 2021. Since then, it has been serving members of the Montreal North community through activities and programs.

Today, these leaders, with the support of a nine-member administrative board, guide CCESMN in its community-building mission, focusing on family, education, social inclusion and living together.

Today, the CCESMN is a fixture throughout the Montreal-North borough and surrounding area. More than 560 families are served every week through the most popular project, the Centre d’aide alimentaire (CAA). This project has been running since March 2021 with the participation of Moisson Montréal, which supplies foodstuffs and provisions for the preparation and distribution of baskets (food kits) delivered to beneficiary families 50 weeks out of 52.

Au Centre Communautaire Espoir et Solidarité de Montréal-Nord, nos services sont structurés autour de trois axes fondamentaux : la Famille, l’Éducation, et le Mieux Vivre Ensemble.

Our vision

We work to improve the quality of life in Montréal-Nord by providing essential services to combat food insecurity, school dropout, youth violence and crime, as well as discrimination, prejudice and social isolation. We strengthen community solidarity through parent training, popular education and mutual aid, and by encouraging the active participation of seniors and newcomers in social activities. Our programs focus on educational support, food security, family involvement and social inclusion.

By placing families, youth, seniors and immigrants at the heart of its actions, CCESMN plays a key role in providing access to the resources needed for successful integration and sustainable community development. Through its services and initiatives, CCESMN contributes to building a stronger, more supportive and inclusive community, where each individual can flourish and actively participate in society.

OUR MISSION

Contribute to the education of young people and adults and the integration of new arrivals; support and accompany disadvantaged families in order to prevent and reduce poverty, social isolation and violence, with the aim of building an inclusive, safe and progressive society.
